Wolf Totem to get film treatment

French director Jean-Jacques Annaud (pictured) is to direct a screen adaptation of the Chinese hit novel Wolf Totem (Lang Tuteng).

Annaud, best known for The Lover, Two Brothers and The Bear, will join hands with Beijing-based Forbidden Film to make the film. He has just scouted film locations with the book's author Jiang Rong in Inner Mongolia, and is working on the script now.
