Q: How were exhibitions set up at early World Expos?

A: Exhibitions at earlier expos in the 1850s and 60s were often held in one designated building due to the limited number of participating countries.

There were several notable exhibition buildings during this period, especially the Crystal Palace that was purpose-built for the founding fair in London in 1851, called the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations. The glass structure contained a floor space of 92,000 sq m and featured an exhibition platform that ran some 12,000 m in length. Countries contributed over 100,000 national relics and products to the exhibition.
