Steeple champion hopes haircut catches on at home

BERLIN: Newly-crowned men's world 3,000m steeplechase champion, Ezekiel Kemboi, is hoping his new hairstyle will catch on in his home country of Kenya.

Kemboi, who claimed gold after a six-year wait and in his fourth championships, sported a pattern shaved into his cropped hair as well as gold fingernails.

"About my hair style, well, I met a friend of mine from Germany who has been to Kenya and he came to my hotel and I asked him to give me a special haircut and paint my nails gold," Kemboi said.
