Polluters sentenced

Hu Wenbiao, director of Biaoxin Chemical Company in Yancheng, East China's Jiangsu province was sentenced to 11 years in prison last Friday for causing large-scale water pollution, leaving more than 200,000 local people without supplies in February.

From November 2007 to February 2009, Hu and plant manager Ding Yuesheng discharged 30 tons of wastewater into a river outside the factory area, polluting the water sources for Yancheng, according to the People's Court of Yandu District.
