Good omens

Dating back thousands of years, fengshui remains deeply rooted in Chinese culture despite some viewing it as a superstition or a feudal hangover. Traces of fengshui can still be found on the streets of Shanghai today.

Lions and kylins

Both are auspicious symbols in fengshui. Stone statues of lions or kylins (a mythical Chinese creature resembling the lion) often decorate the front gates of government buildings, banks and even offices to dispel evil spirits and welcome in auspicious ones.
