Village mourns heroine who died saving victims

Villagers are calling for a woman who died helping traffic accident victims to be awarded by the local government in Xiangtan, Hunan province, on Monday.

On Aug 6, Ma Guiqiu rushed to the scene of three traffic incidents near her home. As she was attempting to save the victims, she was crushed to death by a truck. Villagers appealed for an official award with their signatures and fingerprints on a petition.
