US Senator to visit leaders

US Senator Jim Webb plans to meet with Myanmar's leaders today in the first visit by a US Congress member in more than a decade, an embassy spokesman said. The visit follows Tuesday's conviction of democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi along with an American citizen, and the beginning of another 18-month confinement to house arrest for the Nobel Peace Prize winner. John Yettaw, who swam to Suu Kyi's house and spent two days there, is not expected to be released to the senator. Webb is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's East Asia and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee.
