A city planning official has received more than 14 million yuan in bribes over 10 years, Shanghai No 1 Intermediate People's Court was told yesterday at a hearing.

Tao Jianguo, 42, a divisional chief in Pudong New Area's Waigaoqiao Economic Zone, has allegedly taken advantage of his post to benefit property developers and received more than 1 million yuan in cash and 29 properties worth 13.7 million yuan.
