Across China: Jiangsu
Rumors dismissed
Wuxi's public security bureau officials said yesterday they are ready to dismiss further rumors of bribery charges after they denied having business ties with any foreign companies' subsidiaries in China on Monday.
United States label maker Avery Dennison's China division was alleged to have offered bribes to research institutions and other officials in China to win business contracts. A spokesman from the manufacturer's Asia Pacific Group confirmed last week that the company had found some of its employees involved in bribery. According to a document released by the US Securities and Exchange Commission on July 28, the illegal payments Avery China paid to Chinese officials amounted to approximately $30,000 between 2002 and 2005.
