Wind farm work begins

China started construction of the country's biggest wind farm, a "Three Gorges in the Air", Xinhua News Agency reported, quoting Zhang Guobao, head of the National Energy Administration. The 120-billion-yuan station in Jiuquan, northwestern Gansu province, will have installed capacity of 5.16 gW by the end of next year and reach 12.71 gW by 2015, it said. China's total installed wind power capacity totaled 12.17 million kW at the end of 2008, ranking fourth in the world.
