The award-winning play by British playwright Ray Cooney will be staged in Chinese. The story is about a politician who dates his lover, the secretary of his rival politician. At the hotel, where they secretly meet, he finds a dead body on the window ledge. He tries to cover it up, but one lie leads to another and the situation eventually gets out of control.

Shaun concert

Grasshoppers
Hong Kong male pop group the Grasshoppers was popular across China in the 80s and early 90s. Back then they were known for their unique variety in dance rhythms. After disappearing from the scene in the mid-90s, they return to the mainland with a big concert that fans will not want to miss.

Lu Meng

A retrospective exhibition for Lu Meng is held. He started by drawing cartoon posters with a clear message against the Japanese invasion in the 1930s and later went on to create wood prints and comic strips. When his health deteriorated in the 1980s, Lu managed to continue painting with his left hand, creating freestyle water-ink Chinese paintings.

On paper

Zheng Rongrong

Artist Zheng Rongrong, also a professional model and actress as well as owner of an advertising company, holds an art exhibit displaying her works. While her water-color paintings often feature flowers and plants with vivid colors, her oil paintings are powerful abstract renderings of landscapes.

J Art Gallery opens in a new venue with an exhibition featuring six local artists born between the 1950s and the 1980s: Chen Xiao'an, Xu Yimei, Chen Weide, Ann Niu, Tang Yunhui and Wang Wendong. The German Consulate Cultural Office screens three 2006 German movies with English subtitles this month. There is no admission charge and audiences need not make reservations ahead of time, but should arrive early as seats are limited.

Luxury cruise
A "flowing resort on the Yangtze River" officially opens to serves as the first luxury cruise route along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It will afford visitors a five-night and six-day trip from Shanghai's Wusong Transportation Center in Baoshan district to Jiujiang of Jiangxi province. The five-star cruise can hold 280 passengers as it tours various locations including Yangzhou, Nanjing, Jiuhua Mountain and Lushan Mountain.

Book fair
The annual Shanghai Book Fair will present 100,000 written materials from China's 470 publishing houses. The week-long exhibit will include books, newspapers, magazines and electronic publications. Meanwhile seminars and a number of activities, including author-signings, will also be held.

Starbucks goes wireless
Guests can finally enjoy the convenience of wireless Internet at all Starbuck outlets in Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces. China Mobile cell phone subscribers will be able to apply for a free username and password, which they will receive by short message service.

German pavilion
A model of the German Pavilion for the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai is being exhibited at the Cultural office of the German Consulate in Shanghai. The miniature version presents the 13 exhibition halls of the country's pavilion while a computer plays a short film about the exhibition halls in three languages: German, Chinese and English.
