Director is busy as a bee
It's difficult to get Zhang Jigang, co-director of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, to talk about last August. China's leading choreographer/director is busy with six productions, scheduled to run in Beijing in October to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China.
Two musicals, two dances, a Peking Opera and a gala show, My Dream, by the China Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe, will display the creative talents of Zhang, the driving force of both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Games.
"One year has passed so fast that I have actually been too busy to rethink that night's performance carefully. What strikes me often, however, is how lucky I have been as an artist to be associated with such a historic moment," Zhang told China Daily.
