Fourteen people detained following a riot in Shishou, Hubei province, have now been formally arrested under suspicion of organizing a mass activity to cause public disorder.

The 14 include the brother and a cousin of the 24-year-old chef, Tu Yuangao, whose death is thought to have sparked the riot, according to Liu Runchang, a spokesman with the municipal government.

Tu's body was found lying at the gate of the Yonglong Hotel on the evening of June 17.
