Family letter to Kadeer genuine

A Chinese official yesterday refuted Rebiya Kadeer's claim that the letter from her children denouncing her for the deadly riots in Urumqi had been produced by Chinese authorities.

Kadeer's sons, daughter and brother in China made an appearance on China Central Television (CCTV) yesterday, talking about why they wrote the letter and their sorrow about what she is doing.

Kadeer's relatives wrote the letter and were interviewed of their own will, said an official at the Information Office of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
