Tian Fanjiang first named his website Tianxianpei.com, after a popular Chinese folklore about the seventh daughter of the Jade Emperor who descends on earth and marries a poor young man named Dong Yong. They live happily for just 100 days before the Jade Emperor separates them.
"The old name invoked a forbidden and tragic romance but what we want to do is tie two people in love forever," says Tian, who changed the name to Baihe in 2006.
Baihe, which is the Chinese name for the lily, is also an abbreviation of the expression "bai nian hao he", which means a harmonious married life lasting 100 years. "This is a more auspicious and catchy name," says Tian.
