Such a Sassy Girl
Following Korean helmer Kwak Jae-yong's successful My Sassy Girl and Windstruck, here comes the third part in the trilogy of semi-sci-fi fantasy Cyborg She.
The love story between a high-tech cyber girl from the future (Ayase Haruka, pictured) and her inventor boyfriend Kitamura Jiro (Koide Keisuke) borrows a lot from movies such as the Terminator and Back To The Future. In the year 2070, a kindly, fragile but physically handicapped Jiro builds a female cyborg as a personal aide to assist him in his daily life. Equipped with a time travel device, Jiro sends the girl back to 2007 in an attempt to prevent the incident that crippled him. Fulfilling her duty, the cyber girl meets up with the younger Jiro and saves him from the accident.
Two martial arts comedies open this weekend, transforming the traditional serious wuxia, or fight movie, into something funnier. Tracing Shadow, directed and played by Hong Kong veteran actor Francis Ng, is set in Beijing at the end of Ming Dynasty as martial art masters flock in to look for a legendary treasure map.
