Dungy says setting conditions good for Vick's return

China Daily | Updated: 2009-07-30 08:03

NEW YORK: Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy said on Tuesday he would mentor Michael Vick as a friend and was pleased that conditions were set by the NFL commissioner on a reinstatement of the quarterback.

Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday lifted an indefinite suspension on Vick imposed after his conviction for bankrolling a dog-fighting ring, clearing the way for him to resume his NFL career provided he lives up to promises about his behaviour.

Vick this month completed a 23-month criminal sentence for his role in the dog-fighting operation.
