City workers' salaries up

The average per capita wage for Chinese urban employees rose 12.9 percent year-on-year to 14,600 yuan ($2,100) in the first half of this year, said the National Bureau of Statistics yesterday. The growth rate was 5.1 percentage points lower than it was in the same period last year, the bureau said.

Average per capita wage for financial industry employees in urban areas stood at 30,603 yuan in the first half, ranking first among all urban industries' employees.
