Editor's note: China Daily opens a Formula One column today by Matthew Marsh, one of Asia's best known motor sport personalities. In 2008 he became the only Hong Kong driver to have scored an FIA World Championship point by finishing eighth in the final round of the World Touring Car Championship at the Macao Grand Prix, driving a BMW. Prior to that he became the only driver to have represented Hong Kong at the world-famous Le Mans 24-hours race in 2007 (Ferrari 430) and the first to do so at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2005 (Porsche Supercup). With his wife Jessie - and their Lakeland Terrier dogs, Mui Mui and Parker - Matthew lives in Hong Kong where he is a permanent resident.
