Perfecting your poolside figure
Pilates, pole dancing and Burlesque instructor Jenevieve Chang (co-founder of Shanghai Blush www.shanghaiblush.com.cn) shares her tips for getting in shape this swimsuit season on her website.
Third time's a charm
There's nothing like wild movement to get the heart rate going. Stick to a disciplined routine of three times a week and you'll notice results. Pole dancing can start to strengthen and tone the body within a fortnight. Combine this with some cross training such as Pilates for a balanced workout.
Breath of fresh air
Correct breathing techniques give those abdominal muscles a thorough workout and calm the mind. Take a deep breath, exhale and suck your belly in. Try five minutes a day in your office chair and you'll be on your way to those longed-for washboard abs.
Nothing butt repetition
You can do this one just about anywhere. Take a deep breath, exhale and then clench your gluteus maximus muscles (aka. buttocks). Hold for about 10 seconds, release and repeat. Try 10-30 repetitions a day and you'll soon improve the elasticity in that area.
Shop 'til you drop
Yes, this really does count as exercise. Bonus points if you elbow your way through crowds or run away from street vendors. Add another 10 points if you briskly take the stairs between cosmetics and shoes. Extra credit if you're wearing heels.
