The smell of good seafood floats in the air at East 33, Raffles Beijing Hotel, which presents a seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday evenings. The catchword is "lobster". The eatery offers the city's best lobsters, shipped in freshly from Boston of the United States. According to the restaurant's chefs, these lobsters each weigh from 500 grams to 750 grams, the perfect size to be consumed.

The lobsters are prepared in a big pot full of seawater, on the spot, in the restaurant. The chefs put carrot, celery, onion, leek, parsley, stalk, bay leaves, clove, lemon, caraway seed and white peppercorn in the seawater. According to Andy Cheah, the restaurant's Australian chef, the herbs are used to enhance the fresh flavor of the lobster.

Each visitor is entitled to one whole lobster, in addition to a free flow of soft drinks, white and red wine. There is a huge variety of seafood at the restaurant on the two evenings, with 80 percent of the food on offer being seafood. Besides the lobster, there are king crabs, Norweign salmon, prawns, oysters, mussels and scallops.
