Moral dilemmas

The Alan Mak and Felix Chong-directed Infernal Affairs six years ago became an instant classic of Hong Kong cinema. The duo returns to the big screen with Overheard which opened at cinemas on Thursday.
Starring Daniel Wu, Louis Koo, Lau Ching-Wan and Zhang Jingchu, Overhead is set in the Hong Kong stock market, where an investigation into a financial crime is underway. Three sleuths led by Johnny Leung (Lau Ching-Wan) infiltrate the trading company, Feng Hua, and install interception devices to monitor the company. However, two policemen Gene Yeung (Loius Koo) and Max Lam (Daniel Wu), end up getting involved in the conspiracy themselves. Besides the usual car chases, bombings and murders that are a staple of Hong Kong crime thrillers, the film deals with such issues as greed, corruption and morality.
Rising mainland writer-director Yang Qing, 28, makes his mark with his debut work, One Night in the Supermarket. A jobless man plots to unleash chaos as revenge against the supermarket owner.
