Old eatery's new creations
To mark the 145th anniversary of its founding, Peking roast duck giant Quanjude's oldest branch at Qianmen (全聚德前门店) introduces a new set of dishes for summer. Duck-flavored eight treasure jelly (鸭香八宝冻) has a range of ingredients, including duck claw, duck tongue, duck liver, duck giblet, green and yellow beans. Clear-broth stewed duck chops (清炖五福鸭块) has yam, leaf mustard and sweetened jujube. Besides, there are duck wings cooked with brown soybean sauce, pearl clam with diced duck, and duck tongue with rice wine sauce, along with the classic roast duck. 6511-2418
Meanwhile, Quanjude Peking Roast Duck Restaurant's Xicuilu branch (全聚德西翠路店) offers free dessert at every dinner until the month-end. The restaurant has created several new dishes for the season, such as the very tender tasting sauteed and steamed cobia chop (煎蒸龙鲡) and roast duck breast with wasabi sauce (芥辣鸭脯). The eatery also has a dry deep-fried meat ball made with duck meat (干炸鸭茸丸子). Also newly available are stewed beef short rib (秘制牛仔骨), and a crispy egg and duck "gold bar" pastry (金条酥).
