CPC must peer inward

It's encouraging to hear that the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will dedicate its coming plenum to party-building. After 60 years behind the helm, and more than 30 years of preoccupation with the economy, the CPC needs to take a serious look at itself and adapt to new conditions.

As the scientific outlook on development indicates, GDP figures are only one of many factors that define good governance. And well-being is not only about having more to eat and wear.

With the strategic shift from political nonsense to economic progress, along with the subsequent benefits to each and every household, the CPC has demonstrated convincing competence for maneuvering the economic machinery.
