Three get death sentence

Three people who robbed a gold shop in Jieshou in Anhui province and shot a police officer, severely injuring him, have been sentenced to death for robbery and attempted homicide at a local court in Fuyang of Anhui province, the Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday.

Four culprits, all from Henan province, robbed a gold shop on June 1 last year and stole jewelry of about 2.5 kg, worthy 670,000 yuan ($98,000). During the escape, they shot a police officer but were later arrested. One suspect died later when trying to break out of prison.
