Chinese divers are losing dominance: Olympic champ

China Daily | Updated: 2009-07-21 08:11

ROME: China's traditional dominant status in diving is threatened by rivals, said two-time Olympic champion Wu Minxia on Sunday.

Wu, who won the women's 3m synchronized springboard in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, was beaten by Russia's Julia Pakhalina to the second place in the women's 1m springboard at the World Championships.

"Our rivals are catching up and I think we don't have a lot of advantages now. We must learn from this defeat and train harder in the future," said Wu.
