Train, train, train urges loco boss

A great number of technical talents, with world-class expertise in the locomotive, rolling stock and related sectors, lie at the very heart of China CNR Corporation Limited (CNR). It is this multitude of highly-able individuals that the company ascribes its remarkable renaissance.
Paying tribute to these individuals and to the company's all-important training program, Cui Dianguo, CNR's chairman, said: "At present, CNR has an annual production capacity of 700 electric and diesel locomotives, 100 high-speed EMU train-sets, 2,000 passenger coaches and 26,000 freight wagons. In addition, we are capable of repairing 800 locomotives, 2,000 passenger coaches, and 28,000 freight wagons on an annual basis.
However, these numbers - 700, 100, 2,000, 26,000, 800, 2,000 and 28,000 - are not just irrelevant statistics. "This is the summation of our achievements since CNR committed to training more than 3,000 technicians, senior technicians and a large group of professional operating staff - all of whom are well qualified to ensure the continuing high quality of our output," Cui said.
