A program to encourage entrepreneurship among young people and college graduates to cope with rising unemployment has been launched by computer maker Hewlett-Packard. With an investment of 3 million yuan ($440,000), the program in IT technology and facilities will sponsor the education of university students in starting micro-enterprises.
Only 1 percent of college graduates started their own business in 2008, according to the latest Chinese College Graduates' Employment Annual Report of 2009, released recently by Social Sciences Academic Press.
