China is unique and must follow her own path of development no matter what others think, says a leading US scholar.
Edward Friedman, professor of political science with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a specialist in modern Chinese politics and Sino-US relations. He was the director of the university's Center for East Asian Studies and worked with former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in 1969, helping draft documents on normalizing Washington's relations with Beijing.
During a recent meeting with Wu Wei, director of the China Book International Promotion and Planning Office, Friedman talks about publications on the phenomenal growth of China.
