CSR Special: Milestones
On July 18, 1990, the first BlueStar Summer Camp started as an initiative by Ren Jianxin, the then general manager of China National BlueStar (Group) Co. A total of 11 camp members joined the seven-day event. They toured Lanzhou, capital of northwestern Gansu province, and the Grassland of Gannan Plateau.
Beginning in 1992, each camp adopted an annual theme. Despite the variations in the annual theme, the ethos of the camp still centered on the nation, BlueStar, and the individual. This is in line with the camp's goal of contributing to the healthy development of the next generation.
Although touring and sightseeing have formed the basis of the BlueStar Summer Camp during its first three years, from 1994 the camp began to include a week of military training.
