Q: What is the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE)?

A: The Bureau of International Expositions, also popularly known by its acronym BIE, is the governing body of world expos. It was established by an international convention signed in Paris on November 22, 1928. Its goals were to: oversee the calendar, bidding, selection and organization of world expos and establish a framework that would allow countries to cooperate under the best conditions as organizers of expos, or as participants through national pavilions.
