From here to eternity, HK full of potential
Built inside a partial glass casing, the Hong Kong Pavilion will use transparency as a symbol of the territory's open nature, while a special visual effect will be created on one of the ceilings of the three-level (18 m) building to illustrate the colorful imagination of its people.
While Hong Kong plans to use the 637-sq-m steel structure to showcase its leading position as a creative and cultural capital, it also hopes to demonstrate the city's enthusiasm in engaging in mutual exchange projects at next year's expo, said Henry Tang, chief secretary for administration for the Special Administrative Region.
"Hong Kong is very excited to be involved in the Shanghai Expo," he said. "It will be a fantastic platform to promote our status as a grand city and a wonderful opportunity to learn from the rest of the world."
