Lawmakers eye burqa ban
French legislators from all four major parties began meetings yesterday to discuss burqas and other face-covering Muslim veils, amid calls for an eventual ban after explaining it to the public. French President Nicolas Sarkozy said recently that the body-length veils debase women and that they would not be tolerated in France.
