Disease death toll rising
Another child has died of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) during the past week in Shandong province, bringing the death toll this year to 44 in the worst-affected province, provincial health authorities said yesterday.
The province has reported 6,919 HFMD cases. Of those, 2,944 required hospitalization and 245 were 'serious'.
