Sponsorship soars as companies target tomorrow's consumers

China Telecom and the Universiade Shenzhen 2011 set their sponsorship agreement in stone as they agree the terms for the communications giant to back the looming world student games.

On paper, Shenzhen, one of China's most outwards looking cities, should be among the country's urban economies most badly hit by the world economic downturn. The Organizers of the Universiade Shenzhen 2011, however, have confounded these expectations and secured a record level of sponsorship, sourced from both international and domestic businesses, for the forthcoming event.
