Even the possibility of bad weather has been taken into account by the organizers of the Universiade Shenzhen 2011. With the student-sporting gala scheduled for August, southern China's stormiest season, plans have already been put in place to ensure the event is not disrupted.

Concerns over possible adverse meteorological conditions have seen the organizers and Shenzhen's weather bureau liaising extensively to devise a contingency plan over the last two years.

One result of this initiative has been the daily announcement of the prevailing weather conditions in Shenzhen on the Universiade website.
