Death penalty upheld

A higher court in east China's Shandong province yesterday upheld the death penalty sentence against the former chief of the Capital Airports Holding Company (CAH) for bribery and embezzlement.

Li Peiying, 60, former board chairman and general manager of the CAH, was sentenced to death by Jinan Intermediate People's Court on Feb 10 for taking bribes totaling 26.6 million yuan between 1995 and 2003 and for misappropriating 82.5 million yuan for his personal use between 2000 and 2003.
