Saving mothers, killing a tradition

After several hours of hell, Chen Zhongju looked over at her new baby girl as she slept silently beside her and felt like she was in heaven. It had been a difficult birth and, had she been at home in her village rather than on a hospital ward, her life would have been in serious danger.
