Smooth Sailing

Having grown up near the shores of Suzhou Creek, Yin Aizhen is looking forward to finally riding on its waters next year when the city launches pleasure cruises for expo tourists.

"Now we will have something fun to do on the weekend when friends and relatives come into town to visit," she said.

The cruise boats will effectively serve as "water buses", with operations slated to commence on or just prior to May 1, according to project leader Liang Liqun, who also serves as vice-director of Putuo District Tourism Department.
