Merritt aims to beat Wariner again at Worlds

EUGENE, Oregon: LaShawn Merritt, who dethroned Jeremy Wariner as Olympic 400m champion in Beijing, now wants a shot at Wariner's world title.

Merritt will try to book his berth for August's World Championships in Berlin at the US athletics championships that start here on Thursday.

"Now that I proved I could be No 1, I have to keep it," Merritt said. "I'm more dedicated. There's room for improvement ... I have to stay hungry, stay humble."
