During the week that Edmond Tung spent in Beijing, his friends repeatedly asked him the same question: "Do you have time for a meal?"

Tung, who is from Hong Kong, sampled Peking Duck, sweet-spicy fish in the Yunnan ethnic style and hot pot with tomato juice soup.

"If the global financial crisis is not as visible in China as it is in other places, it is almost invisible at Chinese restaurants," he said.
