Taj Pavilion, India Kitchen, Tandoor and Ganges are familiar with most Beijing diners craving Indian food are not the capital's only Indian restaurants. There is also Chingari, Kanchan's Kitchen, Mirch Masala and Kamat that have their own dedicated clientele. With so many, is there room for yet another?

New kid on the block

Marriott Beijing Northeast's F&B Director Raj Mohan, believes there is. At the opening of Tamarind, Beijing's only Indian restaurant in a luxury hotel, on Thursday the reasons for this conviction were quickly apparent.

The mildness of the food strikes a diner immediately. Dishes are sure to delight those that don't appreciate having to down every morsel with a huge gulp of water or lassi (a yoghurt drink), and disappoint those looking for a feisty culinary experience.
