Eight new economic zones earmarked for accelerated growth

The northeastern province of Heilongjiang has announced it is to immediately accelerate the development of eight of its key economic areas.
The eight designated areas are the Harbin-Daqing-Qiqihar Industrial Corridor, the Eastern Coal-Power Integration Base, the Northeastern Asia Economic Trade Development Area, the Greater and Lesser Hinggan Mountains Eco-Protection Area (an agricultural development and experimental zone on the plains), the Beiguofengguang Tourism Development Zone, the Hamusuidong-Russia Trade Processing Area and a high-tech industry cluster.
The eight key economic areas have been selected to help optimize the province's investment climate. With an eye on attracting hi-tech investors, the provincial government has also committed itself to providing a number of incentives in the sector, including accelerated planning permission and tax benefits.
