Technology fair opens

The 7th annual China Cross-Straits Technology and Projects Fair opened in Fuzhou, Fujian province yesterday. The fair is an annual meeting for the promotion of scientific and technological innovation combining production since 2003. Provincial governor Huang Xiaojing said that one goal of this year's fair is to support companies and research institutes during the global recession, and is also a measure to boost the development of the economic zone west of Taiwan, which was made a national strategy this May. More than 2,800 businessmen and researchers from 49 countries and regions will attend the three-day fair, including more than 600 from Taiwan, making it the largest Taiwan group to attend the fair since 2003.
