Jane Eyre inspired me, says Yuan

Mainland actress Yuan Quan has found inspiration in the lead role of Jane Eyre, a theatrical adaptation based on the romantic English novel of the same name by Charlotte Bronte.

Yuan says she felt most connected to the character's obsessive craving for love, freedom and equality. "Jane's philosophy about love and life has inspired me ever since I first read the book when I was 13 years old," says Yuan at the set in Beijing. "I have always taken her as a role model who encourages me whenever I feel confused and lost.

"Jane's determination about her relationships, pursuits and principles is so inspiring. Although the story is hundreds of years old, we can still learn from it. It's not just love she's looking for. She's looking for answers that will allow her to express herself."
