Tanzania stimulus package

Tanzania's President Jakaya Kikwete unveiled a 1.7 trillion shilling ($1.3 billion) rescue plan to help local companies and agricultural cooperatives weather the impact of the global financial crisis.

By April, about 48,000 people in the east African nation had lost their jobs since the world economic slowdown began, Kikwete said in the capital, Dodoma.
