Artists honored

Chinese art curator and critic Li Xianting (pictured right) and fashion designer Ma Ke have won the 2008 Prince Claus Awards, which honor individuals and organizations mainly in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, who reflect a progressive approach to culture and development.

Li, 60, won "for his lifetime dedication to the development of contemporary art in China, for his rigorous analytical thought and for championing individuality and freedom of spirit".
