Senior cop fired

A senior Chinese police official in the central government has been removed from his post, sources with the discipline organ of the Communist Party of China (CPC) confirmed yesterday. Zheng Shaodong, former assistant minister of public security, has been under investigation for "serious disciplinary violations", according to the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

The discipline organ did not say when the official was removed from his post.
