Day in the life of a 5-star hotel
7:15 am: Wake up, quick breakfast at home and walk or cycle to work.
8:35 am: My first job of the day is to ensure I have plenty of time to make coffee. I can't function without it. Check and reply to e-mails and spend 20 minutes prioritizing tasks for the day.
10 am: Department meeting that lasts 30 minutes, then back to my office to start on those tasks.
12:45 pm: Starving and head downstairs for lunch.
2 pm: Meetings with our spa, food and beverage, and revenue directors. Hotel marketing department has to work with multiple departments.
3:15 pm: Send off a couple more e-mails to our corporate office regarding our promotions.
4:33 pm: Scribble down notes while drafting an urgent press release.
7:12 pm: Time just gets away. Answer the last of my e-mails and shut down computer.
7:30 pm: Head to Neds (an Australian bar on Nanluoguxiang, Beijing) to have dinner with friends. I'm usually the last to get there so I order on my way up the hutong. They know my routine at Neds all too well.
10:15 pm: Home and wind down for bed by 11 pm.
Weekends: Make sure I get as much as possible in such as riding my bike and exploring new areas of the city, hiking on the outskirts of Beijing, motocross riding (I just tag along and ride the ATVs), skiing and snowboarding in winter. I play Australian Rules football for the "Beijing Bombshells". We have a great group of girls.
