Oil prices surge past $70 a barrel

Updated: 2009-06-06 08:09 VIENNA: Oil prices are spiking above $70 a barrel for the first time since October. Benchmark crude for July delivery hit $70.32.
Prices jumped after a US report on Friday showed the pace of layoffs had eased in May. The jobless rate, at 9.4 percent, is still the highest in more than 25 years. AP (China Daily 06/06/2009 page1) |
